Dark Belles Come Ringing

Wellington's own Pixel Ink Gallery is opening Melissa McDougall's first solo New Zealand show next week. McDougall is a Wellington-based painter whose new exhibition, Dark Belles, explores how urban dwellers interact with their environment. The show focuses on the idea of a female heroine inhabiting a dark cityscape.

Richard Freestone - Populaire

Auckland-based artist Richard Freestone has a wonderful looking exhibition that opened last week at Seed Gallery in Newmarket. The exhibition of new works, entitled Populaire, looks at creating an intersection between high art and the low-brow of popular culture and runs from August 27 to September 7.

Silent Auction! Shhh!

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I finished uni one of the first things I did was try and block large portions of it from my memory. A lot of these were from my final year which was, like everyone else's, stressful and rushed and sleep-deprived.
